Mark joined the SSO in 2008 and has been the President of the Board of Directors since 2010. He holds the distinction of being the DLC (Dead Last Cello), an honor that pleases him to no end. After a full career in the Army, Mark retired in 2008 and subsequently began a second career as an Army civilian. Mark has a Master’s from the US Army War College, and a Master’s in Information Systems Management, and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Southern California. He is a rated aviator in both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. In his spare time he plays guitar with the Saint Matthew Praise Team, rides bikes, repairs old cars, and enjoys water sports. Mark married Colleen in 1980 and together raised three children.
What does Mark like most about the SSO?
I enjoy the intellectual challenge of interpreting classical music…nah…that’s baloney. I like the comradery of the orchestra and the thrill of playing a good tune.”
